How we can support you:
You may be seeking physiotherapy because something in your body no longer feels quite right. This may include tightness or pulling around a scar, discomfort that has continued after surgery or injury, or a sense that your movement is restricted or less fluid than it used to be.
Some people notice that their symptoms do not seem to match a single area of the body, or that previous treatment has not fully addressed the issue. Others may be experiencing changes in how their body feels and responds during peri- or post-menopause.
These experiences are common, and they are often influenced by how different systems of the body interact, including the fascial system.
A Focus on Scars and the Fascial System
At Fascia & Physio, treatment places particular emphasis on the role of scars and fascia in movement and comfort.
Fascia is a connective tissue network that surrounds and links muscles, joints, and organs throughout the body. Rather than acting in isolation, different areas of the body are connected through this system. When fascia is not moving or adapting as it usually would, it may be associated with stiffness, discomfort, or changes in how the body moves.
Scars may also influence this system. Even once healed, scar tissue can sometimes be associated with changes in tissue mobility or sensation, which may affect surrounding areas.
Fascial Manipulation® - Stecco Method
Fascial Manipulation® - Stecco Method is a structured, evidenced based, hands-on physiotherapy approach developed in Italy. It involves a detailed assessment of how your body moves, alongside consideration of your history and symptoms.
Through this process, specific areas within the fascial system may be identified as contributing to altered movement or discomfort. Treatment involves targeted manual techniques applied to these areas, with the aim of supporting how the body moves and functions as a whole.
This approach is used as part of a broader physiotherapy framework and is adapted to your individual presentation.
Scar Therapy
Scar therapy focuses on how scar tissue and the surrounding areas are moving and functioning. While scars are a natural part of healing, they can sometimes be associated with ongoing tightness, sensitivity, or changes in movement.
Treatment may include hands-on techniques, movement-based approaches, and education to support how the area functions over time. In some cases, a broader approach is taken to consider how the scar may be interacting with other parts of the body.
Support Through Peri and Post Menopause
During peri- and post-menopause, hormonal changes may influence how connective tissue behaves. Some women notice increased stiffness, discomfort, or changes in how their body responds to activity or recovery.
Physiotherapy may assist in supporting movement, strength, and function during this time. Where appropriate, treatment may also consider the role of fascia and previous injuries or scars.
About Fascia&Physio
I am a physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, with a particular interest in supporting women and individuals experiencing complex or persistent movement concerns.
My career has included work across Australia and the UK, including within the NHS in respiratory, medical, oncology, and musculoskeletal settings. Over time, I developed an interest in approaches that consider the body as a connected system, particularly where symptoms were not resolving with more localised treatment.
This led me to complete advanced training in Fascial Manipulation® in Italy. I now integrate this approach with physiotherapy and scar therapy to provide care that is tailored to each individual.
What to Expect
Your initial appointment will include a discussion of your history, current concerns, and goals. This is followed by an assessment of movement and relevant areas of the body.
Based on this, a personalised treatment approach will be developed. This may include hands-on techniques, movement guidance, and advice to support your progress between sessions.
Responses to physiotherapy can vary between individuals, and care is adapted over time depending on how your body responds.
If you would like to discuss your concerns or arrange an appointment, bookings are now available.
Introductory consultation rates are currently available for May.

“Taking care of the person, not just the muscle, the organ or the joint as separate entities; listening to the body. The goal is to set up a tailored treatment to allow the body to fulfil its potential while accepting its limits.”
